And from Tucson, Arizona comes a new album by local hero Don Reeve, a guitarist who transcends the post-new age circuit. (New age music is old hat by now, isn't it?) Reeve's Spirit Wild (on Crash Landing, 5720 Camden, Tucson AZ 85712) shows Reeve to have an experimental flair. The ethnic overtones and earthy atmospheres are reminiscent of Steve Tibbets and even, at times, Egberto Gismonti. Reeve invites you to get lost in another world, one without the usual pastel pastiches and glib blissfulness of the stuff unfortunately piped into finer restaurants everywhere.
